An Act respecting the City of London
Preamble
The council of the City of London has applied for special legislation to provide for the election of one councillor from each of the 14 wards of the City of London for the regular municipal election of 2006.
It is appropriate to grant the application.
Therefore, Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Ontario, enacts as follows:
Ward representation
1. Each of the 14 wards in the City of London shall be represented by one councillor on the day that the new council is organized following the 2006 regular election.
Conduct of the 2006 regular election
2. (1) The 2006 regular election in the City of London shall be conducted as if section 1 were already in effect.
Saving
(2) An order shall not be made under subsection 83 (1) of the Municipal Elections Act, 1996 by reason only of the clerk of the City of London doing anything, before this Act receives Royal Assent, in relation to the conduct of the 2006 regular election,
(a) as if section 1 were not already in effect; or
(b) as if section 1 were already in effect.
Commencement
3. This Act comes into force on the day it receives Royal Assent.
Short title
4. The short title of this Act is the City of London Act, 2006.
