That a Select Committee on Elections be appointed to consider the current effectiveness of the Election Act, the Election Finances Act and the Representation Act in the preparation, administration and delivery of elections in Ontario, and to report to the House its opinions, observations and recommendations concerning amendments to these Acts; and That the Committee may present or, if the House is not sitting, may release by depositing with the Clerk of the House, interim reports; and That the Committee shall present or, if the House is not sitting, shall release by depositing with the Clerk of the House, its final report to the Assembly no later than the last day of the Spring session of 2009; and That the Committee have authority to meet at the call of the Chair; to call for persons, papers and things; to employ counsel and staff; and, as the Committee deems relevant to its terms of reference, to commission reports and adjourn from place to place; and That in the event of, and notwithstanding, any prorogation of the House before the presentation of the Committee's final report, the Committee shall be deemed to be continued to the subsequent Session or Sessions and may continue to meet during any such prorogation; and That the Committee may examine any other matter it deems relevant to its terms of reference; and |

That the Committee shall be composed of two Government members, one member of the Official Opposition, and one member of the Third Party. It shall be chaired by a member of the Government. The membership of the Committee including the identification of the Chair shall be filed with the Clerk of the Assembly by the Whips of the recognized parties no later than Thursday June 26, 2008.
