Committee business

The Chair (Mr. Ernie Hardeman): Good afternoon, everyone. I call this meeting of the Standing Committee on Finance and Economic Affairs to order.

On the agenda for today, we have consideration of committee business. Are there any motions members wish to make? MPP Crawford.

Mr. Stephen Crawford: Yes. Hi, Chair. It’s great to be here and see you in that position.

I have a motion. I move that the committee enter closed session for the purposes of organizing committee business.

The Chair (Mr. Ernie Hardeman): Debate on the motion? MPP Fife.

Ms. Catherine Fife: It’s wonderful to be here. It’s interesting that we didn’t start the conversation off with the carbon tax.

Interjection: Well, we can—

Ms. Catherine Fife: I know, I know.

There is no reason at all for this committee to go in camera to discuss our business. Our business is the people’s business, and transparency is important in a democracy. We do not support moving in camera, as we always do not support moving in camera.

The Chair (Mr. Ernie Hardeman): Further discussion on the motion? Is the committee ready to vote? All those in favour? All those opposed? The motion is carried.

We will now go into closed session.
