STANDING COMMITTEE ON PUBLIC ACCOUNTS
COMITÉ PERMANENT DES
COMPTES PUBLICS
Wednesday 19 December 2018 Mercredi 19 décembre 2018
The committee met at 0900 in committee room 151.
Subcommittee report
The Chair (Ms. Catherine Fife): Good morning, everyone. I’d like to call this last-minute public accounts meeting to order.
Our sole purpose today is to approve the subcommittee report in front of you, which involves our selections that took place last week by your subcommittee member, MPP Miller, and ours, MPP Peggy Sattler.
I really just require somebody to read the report into the record. Is there anyone who is willing to do that? MPP Parsa?
Mr. Michael Parsa: Sure.
Your subcommittee on committee business met on December 12, 2018, and recommends the following:
(1) That the following chapters and sections of the 2018 Annual Report of the Office of the Auditor General be reviewed by the committee:
—Chapter 2: Public Accounts of the Province;
—Section 3.02: Darlington Nuclear Generating Station Refurbishment Project;
—Section 3.07: Metrolinx–LRT Construction and Infrastructure Planning;
—Section 3.11: Ontario Works;
—Chapter 4: Review of Government Advertising.
(2) That the 2017 special report on the Fair Hydro Plan: Concerns About Fiscal Transparency, Accountability and Value For Money be reviewed.
The Chair (Ms. Catherine Fife): Thank you, MPP Parsa. Can you please move adoption?
Mr. Michael Parsa: I move adoption of the report.
The Chair (Ms. Catherine Fife): Thank you. All in favour? Opposed? Seeing none, I move that this report has been moved, voted on and accepted. Are there any questions on the report?
You will have in front of you some correspondence that was sent to our Clerk from Deputy Minister Helen Angus on the cancer treatment services—this will be some good Christmas reading—as well as Scott Thompson, who’s the Deputy Minister of Transportation, as it relates to the road infrastructure construction contract awarding and oversight. This is in response to some of the issues that we had as a committee, and they, in turn, responded.
Our committee will reconvene after the Christmas holidays, after February 19, when the House resumes. I believe we may have a subcommittee meeting prior to that, just to plan the next agenda for the next meeting, shouldn’t we? Yes.
Seeing no questions—I should ask you if you have questions first. No? Seeing no questions, this meeting is adjourned.
Have a very good holiday. Thank you very much to legislative research, Hansard and, of course, our Clerk for all the work you do.
The committee adjourned at 0904.
