Committee business
The Chair (Mr. Roman Baber): Good afternoon. I will now convene this meeting of the justice policy committee to discuss organization of business on Bill 207.
For the purposes of clarity, if we have to hold a vote today, it will be through a show of hands, even for the folks on Zoom. I’ll start by asking, “Are members ready to vote?” If I understand that members are ready, I’ll ask for all those in favour and all those opposed, and then I will declare the vote. Unless someone specifically asks for a recorded vote, the breakdown of the vote will not show up in Hansard.
Bill 207, which is An Act to amend the Children’s Law Reform Act, the Courts of Justice Act, the Family Law Act and other Acts respecting various family law matters, has been referred to the Standing Committee on Justice Policy. I welcome all members to discuss business today.
I recognize MPP Will Bouma.
Mr. Will Bouma: Thank you, Mr. Chair. I would move that the committee enter closed session for the purposes of organizing committee business and that broadcasting staff be permitted to remain in the closed session meeting for the purposes of operating the electronic meeting technology, including facilitating unmuting of members’ microphones.
The Chair (Mr. Roman Baber): Thank you. Mr. Bouma moves that the committee enter closed session for the purposes of organizing committee business and that broadcasting shall be permitted to remain in the closed session meeting for the purposes of operating the electronic meeting technology. Are members ready to vote on the motion? All those in favour? All those opposed? I declare the motion carried.
So we’ll exercise as such, please. We need a couple of minutes to organize that. I’m not inclined to suspend the committee. We’ll just stay put, please.
The committee continued in closed session at 1507.
