Assignment of ministries

The Vice-Chair (Mr. Vijay Thanigasalam): Good afternoon, everyone. I’ll call this meeting to order.

We are meeting pursuant to standing order 114(b) to prescribe the ministries and offices to the standing committees. I would like to point out that the Clerk has distributed to members of the committee a memo and a draft committee report, pursuant to standing order 114(b), which states, “At the beginning of each Parliament and, if necessary, during the course of a Parliament, the Standing Committee on the Legislative Assembly shall prescribe the ministries and offices assigned to the standing committees for the purposes of this standing order and shall make a report thereon to the House, which report shall be deemed to be adopted.”

These documents are also available in the shared folder on SharePoint. A revised draft report was shared this morning as well.

Are there any questions before we begin? Any discussion? At this point, the Clerk will explain a small summary about the report.

The Clerk of the Committee (Ms. Valerie Quioc Lim): As the Chair pointed out, this is the committee that will assign ministries and offices to the three standing committees under standing order 114(b). This is due to changes to ministry composition and names that happened on June 18, and there was a change that happened yesterday as well. That’s why there was a revised draft report that was shared to the committee this morning. I just wanted to point that out: The committee is looking at the draft report that was sent out this morning.

The Vice-Chair (Mr. Vijay Thanigasalam): Thank you. Any discussion? Shall the report carry? All those in favour, please raise your hand.
