That this House affirms the necessity of protecting the Oak Ridges Moraine and the importance of having a planning system in Ontario that protects our drinking water, wildlife habitat and other natural features; and That this House calls on the Government to freeze development on the Oak Ridges Moraine, until a detailed policy statement protecting the moraine from inappropriate development is adopted that is binding on all government decision-makers; and That this House endorses a return to binding policy statements under the Planning Act that would require all government decision-makers to give priority to environmental values in their planning decisions, as was done under the amendments to the Planning Act, passed in 1994. |
