An Act to amend the Highway Traffic Act with respect to school crossings

Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Ontario, enacts as follows:
1. Subsection 176 (3) of the Highway Traffic Act is amended by striking out "the half of".
Commencement
2. This Act comes into force on the day it receives Royal Assent.
Short title
3. The short title of this Act is the Highway Traffic Amendment Act (School Crossings), 2007.
EXPLANATORY NOTE
The Bill amends the Highway Traffic Act. At present, subsection 176 (3) of the Act requires that drivers who are required to stop at a school crossing must remain stopped until all persons have cleared the half of the roadway on which they are travelling. The Bill changes the requirement so that drivers must remain stopped until all persons have cleared the entire roadway at the crossing.
