An Act to amend the

Highway 407 Act, 1998

Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Ontario, enacts as follows:

1.Subsection 16 (2) of the Highway 407 Act, 1998 is amended by adding "and" at the end of clause (b), by striking out "and" at the end of clause (c), and by repealing clause (d).

2.Subsection 19 (8) of the Act is amended by striking out "the owner and the Registrar of Motor Vehicles" and substituting "and the owner."

3.Section 22 of the Act is repealed.

4.Subsection 24 (1) of the Act is amended by striking out "19 or 22" and substituting "or 19".

5.Section 25 of the Act is amended by striking out "16 to 22" and substituting "16 to 21".

Commencement

6.This Act comes into force on the day it receives Royal Assent.

Short title

7.The short title of this Act is the Highway 407 Amendment Act, 2000.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

Section 22 of the Highway 407 Act, 1998 requires the Registrar of Motor Vehicles to refuse to validate a vehicle permit issued to a person and to refuse to issue a vehicle permit to the person, when notified that the person has not paid a toll and related fees and interest within 90 days after being sent a notice of failure to pay. The Bill repeals that section and related provisions.
