An Act supporting Ontario wines

by serving only Ontario VQA

certified wines at functions of the

Government of Ontario

Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Ontario, enacts as follows:

Definition

1. In this Act, "

VQA" means Vintners Quality Alliance wine as defined in the Vintners Quality Alliance Act, 1999.

VQA certified wine

2. The Government of Ontario shall not serve any wine at official functions except Ontario produced wine that has been certified as VQA.

Commencement

3. This Act comes into force on the day it receives Royal Assent.

Short title

4. The short title of this Act is the Ontario VQA Only Act, 2000.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The Bill would require that only Ontario produced wine that is certified by the Ontario VQA may be served at official Government of Ontario functions.
