EXPLANATORY NOTE

The Bill amends the Ontario Heritage Act so that once a municipality in which a property is situate designates the property under the Act, the owner of the property cannot demolish or remove a building or structure on the property unless the designating by-law is repealed or the owner has obtained the written consent of the municipality before the Bill is enacted. The Bill removes the possibility for the owner to demolish or remove a building or structure on the property upon obtaining the written consent of the municipality.
