Bill 228 has been enacted as Chapter 16 of the Statutes of Ontario, 2021.
The Bill requires persons who sell, offer to sell or construct floating docks, floating platforms or buoys to ensure that any expanded or extruded polystyrene in the dock, platform or buoy is fully encapsulated.

An Act to prohibit unencapsulated expanded or extruded polystyrene in floating docks, floating platforms and buoys
Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Ontario, enacts as follows:
Sale of foam docks etc.
1 A person who sells or offers to sell a floating dock, floating platform or buoy shall ensure that any expanded or extruded polystyrene in the dock, platform or buoy is fully encapsulated.
Construction of foam docks etc.
2 A person who constructs or reconstructs a floating dock, floating platform or buoy shall ensure that any expanded or extruded polystyrene in the dock, platform or buoy is fully encapsulated.
Commencement
3 This Act comes into force on the second anniversary of the day it receives Royal Assent.
Short title
4 The short title of this Act is the Keeping Polystyrene Out of Ontario’s Lakes and Rivers Act, 2021.
