An Act to proclaim the month of October Dwarfism Awareness and Acceptance Month

Preamble

October is Dwarfism Awareness and Acceptance Month in many jurisdictions around the world. Dwarfism Awareness and Acceptance Month is intended to increase public knowledge, create positive awareness and change negative misconceptions of people born with dwarfism.

By proclaiming October as Dwarfism Awareness and Acceptance Month, the Province of Ontario contributes to raising awareness amongst the general public of dwarfism and promoting a positive image of and a more supportive social, emotional and educational environment for people of short stature and their families.

Therefore, Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Ontario, enacts as follows:

Dwarfism Awareness and Acceptance Month

1 The month of October in each year is proclaimed Dwarfism Awareness and Acceptance Month.

Commencement

2 This Act comes into force on the day it receives Royal Assent.

Short title

3 The short title of this Act is the Dwarfism Awareness and Acceptance Month Act, 2020.
