An Act to proclaim Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day
Preamble
Many Ontario parents and families have suffered a miscarriage, a stillbirth or the death of an infant during delivery or shortly after birth.
Those parents and families deserve and require support and understanding during their time of grief.
Promoting awareness of the challenges faced by those parents and families is a positive means of establishing support and understanding.
Therefore, Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Ontario, enacts as follows:
Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day
1. October 15 in each year is proclaimed as Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day.
Commencement
2. This Act comes into force on the day it receives Royal Assent.
Short title
3. The short title of this Act is the Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day Act, 2011.
EXPLANATORY NOTE
The Bill proclaims October 15 in each year as Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day.
