An Act to proclaim the month of November Diabetes Awareness Month
Preamble
Diabetes is a chronic and progressive disease that impacts the lives of an increasing number of people in Ontario.
The people of Ontario and their government recognize that complications from diabetes can have a devastating effect on the health of those who are diagnosed with the disease. However, complications can be delayed and perhaps avoided with the knowledge and support needed to manage the disease.
It is appropriate to recognize the month of November as Diabetes Awareness Month in order to raise public awareness of diabetes and the steps that can be taken to prevent or manage the disease.
Therefore, Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Ontario, enacts as follows:
Diabetes Awareness Month
1. The month of November in each year is proclaimed as Diabetes Awareness Month.
Commencement
2. This Act comes into force on the day it receives Royal Assent.
Short title
3. The short title of this Act is the Diabetes Awareness Month Act, 2011.

The Bill proclaims the month of November in each year as Diabetes Awareness Month.
