Child and Family Services Amendment Act, 1996
EXPLANATORY NOTE
The Bill amends the Child and Family Services Act to require all service providers who provide a service to children in a year under that Act to report to the Minister of Community and Social Services on the status of those children by March 31 of the following year. The Minister is required to prepare a summary of the reports and to lay the summary before the Legislative Assembly.

An Act to amend the Child and Family Services Act
Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Ontario, enacts as follows:
1. Section 5 of the Child and Family Services Act is amended by adding the following subsections:
Annual report
(6) In each year beginning with the year in which this subsection comes into force, all service providers who provide a service to children in the year shall make a report to the Minister no later than March 31 of the following year with respect to those children on,
(a) their standard of living;
(b) the structure and safety of the environment in which they live;
(c) the community support services available to them in the community in which they live;
(d) the number and type of social institutions and organizations that are active in the community in which the children live; and
(e) all other matters relating to the services that they receive as the Minister specifies.
Tabling by Minister
(7) The Minister shall prepare a summary of the reports received under subsection (6) and lay the summary before the Assembly if it is in session or, if not, at the next session.
Commencement
2. This Act comes into force on the day it receives Royal Assent.
Short title
3. The short title of this Act is the Child and Family Services Amendment Act, 1996.
