An Act to amend the
Public Transportation and
Highway Improvement Act
to name Highway 416
Veterans' Memorial Parkway Preamble
We, the people of Ontario, are forever grateful to the thousands of dedicated men and women who courageously and unselfishly gave their lives in service to Canada in wars and in peacekeeping efforts. Our debt to them can never be repaid.
We are also forever grateful to Canada's veterans who demonstrated extraordinary effort in fighting to preserve our free and democratic society.
We and future generations must never forget the contribution of all those men and women, to whom we owe so much. As a gesture of our respect, we seek to honour their memory by naming Highway 416, the Veterans' Memorial Parkway.
Therefore, Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Ontario, enacts as follows:
1. The Public Transportation and Highway Improvement Act is amended by adding the following section: Highway 416
36.1 The part of the King's Highway designated as controlled-access Highway 416 shall be known in English as the Veterans' Memorial Parkway and in French as Promenade commmorative des anciens combattants. Commencement
2. This Act comes into force on the day it receives Royal Assent. Short title
3. The short title of this Act is the Veterans' Memorial Parkway Act, 1997.
