The Ontario Legislature Internship Programme (OLIP) is currently accepting applications for the 2025-2026 cohort. This paid internship runs from September to June and gives 10 recent university graduates inside knowledge about Ontario’s Legislative Assembly.

Immersive learning

OLIP is a non-partisan program that offers interns the opportunity to engage in the legislative process through hands-on experience. Interns work with backbencher MPPs who belong to both the governing and the opposition parties.

In addition to practical experience, interns also tour other legislatures. Past cohorts have visited the Legislative Assembly of the Northwest Territories, the National Assembly of Quebec, the House of Commons, and the UK Parliament.

Building connections

The program also offers the chance to connect with established professionals and policymakers and the extensive alumni network. Interns have access to several key figures, such as the Premier, the leader of the official opposition, the Speaker, the Lieutenant Governor, and others.
