David Tsubouchi, Committee Member
David Tsubouchi has served as the Minister of Consumer and Commercial Relations, Solicitor General, Chair of Management Board and Minister of Culture.
He was the first Japanese Canadian to be elected to any office in Ontario and the first to be elected to any provincial legislature in Canada. He has also served as the Integrity Commissioner of the Town of Richmond Hill and the Honourary Consul General for the Republic of Mongolia.
He holds a B.A. (York University), J.D. (Osgoode Hall Law School), LL.D. (Assumption University) in Windsor, D.S.Litt. (Huntington University) and C.Dir. (DeGroote School of Business, McMaster University).
His memoir Gambatte: Generations of Perserverance and Politics: A Memoir (ECW Press, 2014) was a finalist for the Speaker’s Book Award in 2014. He enjoys walking through the woods on his farm in Baltimore, Ontario with his wife Elaine and his two dogs. He collects signed first edition books.
