ELECTION OF CHAIR
Clerk of the Committee (Mr Tom Prins): Honourable members, it is my duty to call upon you to elect a Chair. Are there any nominations?
Mr Bill Grimmett (Muskoka-Georgian Bay): I would like to nominate Ms Lankin as Chair of this committee.
Clerk of the Committee: Are there any further nominations? There being no further nominations, I declare the nominations closed and Ms Lankin elected Chair.
ELECTION OF VICE-CHAIR
The Chair (Ms Frances Lankin): The next item on the agenda is the election of a Vice-Chair. Are there any nominations?
Mr Grimmett: First of all, Madam Chair, I would like to congratulate you on your election.
The Chair: Thank you. I appreciate that.
Mr Grimmett: I'd like to nominate Mr Marchese as the Vice-Chair.
The Chair: I notice you didn't wish me a long tenure.
Are there any further nominations? Seeing none, I declare the nominations closed and Mr Marchese elected Vice-Chair.
APPOINTMENT OF SUBCOMMITTEE
The Chair: The next item is a motion to appoint a subcommittee on committee business. Is there a mover for a motion?
Mr Grimmett: I move that a subcommittee on committee business be appointed to meet from time to time at the call of the Chair, or at the request of any member thereof, to consider and report to the committee on the business of the committee; that the presence of all members of the subcommittee is necessary to constitute a meeting; and that the subcommittee be composed of the following members: Ms Lankin as Chair, Mr Marchese, Mr Gravelle and Mr Grimmett; and that any member may designate a substitute member on the subcommittee who is of the same recognized party.
The Chair: Is there any discussion on the motion? Seeing none, all those in favour? Opposed? The motion is carried.
As I understand it, there are two certificates that have been issued, so in case 99.9% of the world is wrong and Richard Mackie, who thinks the election is going to be called next week, is correct, I'll ask the clerk to call a meeting of the subcommittee to deal with the business of dealing with those certificates at an appropriate time.
Is that all the business? The meeting is adjourned.
The committee adjourned at 1014.
